We love to treat our pets with yummy treats just for being so darn cute but Specialized Search Dog Gabe and his handler, Sergeant First Class Charles Shuck have been awarded with an honor that goes far beyond cuteness.
Gabe and Charles were named the top American Hero Dog at the second annual American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards by a nationwide vote and a celebrity panel including Whoopi Goldberg, Candy Spelling, Miranda Lambert, J.R. Martinez and many more. Gabe and his handler have served the American people by completing more than 210 combat missions with 26 explosive and weapons finds in Iraq. The star studded bash was hosted by Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and is set to air on Hallmark Channel November 8, 2012 at 8:00PM ET/PT.
Specialized Search Dog Gabe shared the spotlight with Betty White who was awarded with the National Humanitarian Medal and the Legacy award for her work in charities and overall compassion for animals.
