Daily Bite: Beer-Can-Smoked Whole Chicken
This St. Patrick’s Day, don’t just drink your beer, eat it too! Seriously. We’re daring you to go beyond the glass and mix up our tasty recipes featuring this stout with clout.
1. Make Jewelry Sparkle
Using a light ale and a clean towel, polish gold jewelry to remove dirt. The beer’s natural acids help bring back the shine, says Timothy Dahl, editor of home improvement and green site Charles & Hudson. Try this on tarnished copper pots, too.
2. Give Your Hair Shine
Put life back into flat hair with flat beer. Mix 1 cup lager with 1 egg yolk and massage into strands. Leave on for a few minutes and wash with shampoo, says skin-care therapist Julia March, who grew up using beer as a hair rinse in eastern Europe.
3. Loosen Rusty Bolts and Screws
Stop fighting with stuck-in-place screws! Pour a few gulps of beer on the frozen hardware, wait a few seconds, then give it a turn. The carbonation helps break down the rust.

It’s not surprising that the most stimulating and memorable conversations usually happen in person and oftentimes over great food and drink. So why then, do we communicate with our friends primarily via social media?
In honor of National Lager Day – and the start of National Lager Week – put away your ever-present mobile device and take some time to sip on a cold brew and establish a non-digital connection with friends and family.
Our suggestion? Cozy up with our Lazy Jerky Turkey Chili - Psst, it’s made with lager! -and pair it with a pint. This is one holiday week we’re looking forward to celebrating!
Every week, we’re picking our favorite Instagram photos and sharing them on Friday. Follow us on Instagram at @rachaelraymag OR tweet us your favorite photos at @rachaelraymag on Twitter. From there, we’ll include your photos in the running to be featured on our blog. Keep snappin’ away!

In chef/co-owner Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s kitchen, Executive Chef Dan Kluger pulverized sourdough pretzels to become a coating for fried calamari. Find out more here!
Über-creative chef Gabriel Rucker turns spaetzle nubbins into chewy pretzel pieces and serves them with crumbled sausage and seared pork loin.
Stay tuned as we share 6 more new twists on pretzels!

Oysters and beer top my ideal summer happy hour menu. This weekend I stopped by Update Craft Beer & Oyster Bar and had the best time tasting and comparing oysters from both coasts! I loved the saltier east coast ones and will definitely be back for more!
